Quality Assurance
MEDICS maintains clinical governance and quality assurance arrangements which ensure:
- Clinical proficiency
- High quality patient experience
- Optimal use of information
- Processes for quality improvement
- Staff focus
- Leadership, strategy and planning
Staff members
Clinical staff undergo continuing medical education as appropriate to their role and undergo regular reappraisal and reaccreditation. Continuing education and accreditation is arranged by the individual clinician and monitored by the PCT Clinical Governance arrangements. Nursing staff are required to possess qualifications appropriate to their role (eg as a Diabetic specialist nurse, health care assistant). Where necessary, further training is arranged.
Premises
MEDICS services are provided in premises which are all accredited to provide clinical NHS services by:
- Elmbridge East and Mid Surrey Primary Care Trust (GP premises, New Epsom and Ewell Community Hospital, Leatherhead Community Hospital, Molesey Community Hospital)
- The Health Care Commission (Hospital facilities, Epsom Day Surgery Unit, Cobham Day Surgery Unit)
- Local Hospital Trusts
Patient Experience
MEDICS audits patients' experience of care provided within clinics using the 'Out-Patients' Component of the Patient Dynamics System.
